The Facing History and Ourselves course has its beginnings in a Brookline, MA middle school over 30 years ago. It is now an internationally acclaimed curriculum and reaches 1.8 million students a year. The premise of the course is that "We need to and we can teach civic responsibility, tolerance and social action to young people.

Our mission is to support this very powerful and empowering curriculum. The FHAO curriculum uses historical case studies, like the Holocaust, to show students how human behavior plays a critical role in shaping history. The students learn that the choices they make can create positive change, and that they can make a difference. Our goal is to raise funds for student scholarships, teacher training and funding special programs that support the FHAO curriculum. Our board members have had an integral role in bringing this course to the school system as well as the additional sections of FHAO that have been added to meet the growing demand from students.
During our tenure, we have seen he foundation award $3,000.00 in scholarships through private donations to Westborough High School seniors. We have funded two guest speaking events through the Facing History and Ourselves Organization. We have also become a 501(c)(3) tax exempt organization.
It has been a privilege to work with our fellow officers and board members. As we step down and take on new roles for the foundation, we are committed to increasing membership and fundraising efforts.
Thank you again for your support.
Gail McBride and Pam Tabb
